‘Working together for a brighter future’

OCT Adventures - 11 by 11

As an Orchard Community Trust school, we are relentless in our approach to ensure children can read, write and have excellent mathematical understanding by the time they move to the next phase in their education. However, that is not enough.

We want our children to have, and remember, amazing experiences and opportunities that many may otherwise not get. We want to develop exceptional cultural capital and help our pupils make positive contributions to our communities!

To ensure we provide this to all of our children, we have developed our Orchard Community Trust Adventures. These are 11 experiences for all of our primary school pupils and 16 experiences for our special school pupils.

5 of these experiences are common across the Trust. These are: A zoo visit, a theatre visit, a beach visit, seed to supper (growing our own food for a family meal) and 3 good deeds in 3 days (pupils deciding on 3 activities to help their community). The remaining 6 (or 11 for special schools) activities are decided individually by each school. At Oakhill Primary School these are:

  • Playing conkers
  • Building a den
  • Rolling from the top of a big hill to the bottom
  • Hatching chicks and looking after them for their first 2 weeks
  • Finding our way with a map and compass
  • Visiting a library

Take a look at the photographs below of the adventures completed so far (to be updated during the academic year 2023 – 2024).
