To further enhance our carefully planned and sequenced curriculum, we plan education visits and workshops, some of which are virtual. These enhancements to the curriculum can help to gain real-world experience and cultural capital which may not be taught in the classroom. This opens minds to different cultures and helps to strengthen knowledge of the world around us.
At Oakhill we have carefully planned our visits and workshops, including virtual visits and workshops to compliment and enhance our curriculum. Our educational enhancements for each year group can be found below.
Ofsted agreed with the above when they visited in October 2023 as they stated in their report, "School trips and visitors broaden the experiences for all pupils."
Schools in Orchard Academy Trust have worked together on a collaborative Art and RE project. Our brief was based on Creation Stories and could include animals or landscapes. Children used a range of techniques including collage, sgraffito and charcoal to make work which was inspired by the natural world.
Our work has been included in a virtual exhibition which we would love you to explore.

Oakhill’s approach to the Spirited Art display 2025
Key Stage 1 – God’s creations
In Key Stage 1 our children thought about the Creation Story and made links to what they could remember from their RE lessons. They thought about how the Earth was made and what creatures God created that they had learned about from the story. Then the children used charcoal pastels to represent a creature using lines, form, proportion and shading techniques.
Key Stage 2 – Sacred Spaces
In Key Stage 2 our children used their knowledge of Creation stories from any RE lesson and religion they have studied. They were asked to think about landscapes they could link to creation and to think about how they might have been damaged affecting habitats and the natural world. Children used collage, painting techniques such as Sgraffito, watercolour washes and blending techniques to create their own interpretation of a scared space.
